ISPI Capella University:
I am currently a member of the ISPI Capella University Virtual Chapter Executive Committee. When I first asked about ISPI and Capella, I was told by the Capella University T&PI Chair, Dr. Jamie Barron, that Dr. Rose Noxon was heading up the effort. I was encouraged to work with her on the chapter effort. The chapter was, when I started, hosted on Capella University's site, through their system called Vanilla. An analysis had already been completed, and the Vanilla site was not capable of supporting the chapter's requirements. That is the point where I entered the picture with the chapter leadership. I have accomplished the following:
- I moved the chapter to their own domain (ispicapella.org).
- The chaper site is now hosted on my website as a subdomain.
- The chapter leadership now has their own emails (@ispicapella.org).
- The chapter site is now created and maintained through an open source social network program called elgg.
- The chapter site now includes static HTML content and dynamic content hosted through elgg.
- There is now a custom-written registration and member information processing system. The chapter charges no dues. The only requirement is a fully completed member information record in the database. The system checks for the record, and checks to make sure it is updated every 30 days.
